Now first off, I do realize that none of you readers are concerned whether or not this movie is appropriate, but I reviewed this movie to analyze the subtle messages Disney Pixar is sending us viewers.
What is it about?
Ralph Breaks the Internet tells the story of Ralph and Penelope exploring the internet in search of a part to fix Penelope's game so it won't get unplugged.
Positives
Ralph is willing to go great lengths for his best friend; he sacrifices his comfort to make his best friend happy again. He also wants to keep her safe. Ultimately, he grows and can let go of her so she can fulfill her dream, trusting her to make her own decisions. Penelope doesn't want to hurt Ralph. Many of new characters the pair meet on their journey are eager to help them in their quest without having previously known them at all. The characters they meet in Slaughter Race are a tight-knit band of friends who stick together like family, and they quickly accept Penelope in their group. The princess challenge the idea that they need to be saved by a man. Felix and Calhoun offer to foster a number of the child characters from the unplugged game, teaching them how to be kind to one another. They love each other and make good parents to their new kids.
Negatives
Some childish humor, including name calling. Ralph feels hurt by rude comments left on his videos. Penelope is slow to tell Ralph she wants to stay in the Internet causing him to hear it the wrong way. She leaves him waiting without explanation. He takes what he believes best for Penelope into his own hands before ever speaking to her. His plan uses sketchy means and ends up backfiring horribly.
Conclusion
This fun light-hearted movie teaches us some important stuff about friendship, going the extra mile for them, accepting differences between you, and trusting them. This movie was a bit kiddy, but still enjoyable by all ages.
